The Institute of Medical Ethics and History of Medicine (Prof. Dr. Silke Schicktanz)

is looking starting April 1, 2025 until September 30, 2028

for a doctoral research assistant (PhD position) (m/f/d) 65% TVL13 for 44 months

The Institute for Ethics and History of Medicine (see https://egm.umg.eu/) is an internationally active, team-oriented institute with approximately 15 employees, which is involved in teaching and research on highly topical, socially relevant issues.

The successful candidate will be employed, together with colleagues at the Leibniz University of Hannover, in the context of the ethical-legal subproject of the “Niedersächsisches Zentrum für KI und Kausale Methoden in der Medizin” (CAIMed) (an overview of the project can be found here https://caimed.de/ ).

 

Your tasks:

  • Development of independent empirical-ethical research on the role of AI in doctor-patient communication or in decision-making and communication processes in healthcare
  • Conducting and scientifically evaluating qualitative interviews with stakeholders
  • Inclusion of cross-cultural bioethical research approaches
  • Scientific lectures and writing a doctoral thesis (cumulative or monograph) at the University of Göttingen

Your profile:

  • Good to excellent academic performance in the study of Philosophy, Sociology, Medical Ethics or Political Science
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and German
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Interest in interdisciplinary exchange
  • Professional and independent way of working
