The Pragmatic Turn in the Health and Disease Debate
13 March 2026 15.30 CET
This webinar presents the latest Special Issue of Mefisto (
https://doi.org/10.4454/mefisto.9-1), thwhichat focused on what has been called the “pragmatic turn” in the health and disease debate. Instead of asking what disease is in some abstract, metaphysical vacuum, the pragmatic turn suggests that disease is a plural, context-specific, and value-laden tool – moving from a search for essences to an analysis of practices.
The event will integrate short presentations by the authors of the papers published in the special issues and Q&A sessions, moderated by the organisers and open to the audience.
Speakers: Anne Fenoy, Mara Floris, Cristina Ganz, Noemi Paciscopi, Wendy Rogers, Mary Jean Walker, Sloane Wesloh
