Founded in 1939 at the Institute of Philosophy in Leuven, the Tijdschrift voor Filosofie: Louvain Journal of Philosophy
(pronounced /tɛit.ʃrɪft voːr fi.loːˈsoː.fi/) is an international, peer-reviewed journal for philosophy and history of philosophy. It publishes thematic, historical, and critical studies in Dutch, French, English, German, and South African Dutch, all with
an English abstract.
TvF has published original articles by Jacques Derrida, Jan Patočka, Helmuth Plessner, Jean-François Lyotard, Jean-Luc Marion, Emmanuel Levinas, Edmund Husserl, Margaret Urban Walker, Donald Davidson, Ian Hacking, Jeanne Peijnenburg, Jean Wahl, Eugène Minkowski,
Edith Stein, Karl-Heinz Volkmann-Schluck, Nathalie Depraz, Henri Birault, Patricia De Martelaere, Charles Hartshorne, Peter Winch, Gisela Pańków, David Wiggins, Jules Vuillemin, Jocelyn Benoist, to name but a few.
In addition to academic articles, the Tijdschrift voor Filosofie offers space for essays, studies on literary authors, painters, and composers, as well as interviews with prominent philosophers (e.g., Nadia Urbinati). It also publishes thematic issues,
such as those on the impact of historical events on intellectual life (e.g., in 2014, concerning World War I), on Chinese philosophy, and on themes such as democracy, friendship, anger and hatred, truth and lies, as well as on authors such as Spinoza, Bergson,
Deleuze, or Blumenberg. The journal welcomes thematic contributions, as well as historical and critical studies.
