Dear colleagues,
My name is Maddalena Guazzolini, and I am currently working on a thesis in the history of physics at the University of Bologna. My research focuses on the eighteenth-century laboratory of Laura Bassi and Giuseppe Veratti and aims to reconstruct the scientific and didactic role of their experimental instruments.
In particular, I am analysing the inventory of their laboratory and studying how specific instruments relate to the physical phenomena discussed in contemporary teaching and research. At the moment, I am working especially on instruments connected with optics (refraction, colour experiments, geometrical optics) and electrical phenomena typical of mid-eighteenth-century experimental physics.
I would be very grateful if anyone in the network could suggest references, catalogues, museum collections, or studies that might help in analysing or identifying optical and electrical instruments from the eighteenth century.
Any suggestions or pointers would be extremely helpful for my research.
Many thanks in advance for your time and assistance.
Best regards,
Maddalena Guazzolini
