Application deadline: 15 April 2023

The scheme is designed to support young scholars willing to join CSMBR events. It is named after the Italian physician Santorio Santori (1561-1636), who introduced the quantitative method to medicine and is considered the father of quantitative experimental physiology.

The Fellowship is awarded to students MA and early career researchers (PhDs and Postdocs within 3 years from their viva) whose interests in the field of history of medicine and medical humanities are strong. For the year 2023, the Santorio Fellowship will support participants in the summer school Intensity and the Grades of Nature. Heat, Colour, and Sounds in the Ordering of Pre-Modern World (1200-1600)

Successful applicants become affiliated with the centre with the formal title of Santorio fellows and are encouraged to actively engage in the CSMBR scholarly community.
