  The Department of Philosophy at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for two full-time Lecturer positions beginning August 16, 2026.

Lecturers teach three courses per semester (six per academic year) at the undergraduate level.

Position 1:
Courses in areas such as Formal Epistemology, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind/Cognitive Science, or Philosophy of Mathematics. Ability to teach Philosophical Foundations of Computer Science and/or Advanced Logic would be an asset.

Position 2:
Courses in Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy, or History of Philosophy.

Additional duties include mentoring teaching assistants, holding office hours, and grading examinations and assignments.

Required qualifications

• PhD in Philosophy or a related field by the start date

• Record of effective undergraduate teaching

• Research experience or training relevant to the focus area of the position

These are full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track appointments. Renewal is contingent on funding, enrollments, and performance. The salary is $60,000.
