Corvinus University of Budapest invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Philosophy, beginning in Autumn 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) programme, advise students, supervise student research, conduct and publish original research, and contribute to curriculum development.
We seek a colleague who is enthusiastic about working collaboratively with the philosophy faculty of the PPE programme, particularly in the fields of history and philosophy of science, with a strong emphasis on economics and the social sciences, early modern philosophy, philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong record of research and teaching, commensurate with their career stage. Applicants must hold a PhD in Philosophy.
Area of Specialization: Open (with particular attention to the fields of expected cooperation listed above).
Area of Competence: Logic, epistemology, metaphysics. The ability to teach an introductory course in symbolic logic is essential.
The appointee is expected to conduct high-quality research and publish in leading international journals and with reputable academic book publishers; to organise and seek external funding for research projects; and to engage in internal and external academic service as appropriate.
The starting date of the position is 1 September 2026.
The appointment is fixed-term for three years, with the possibility of extension.
While those at an early stage of their career are welcome to apply, they must be in a possession of a completed Phd at the point of appointment.
