When performing invasive procedures, remember these tips to prevent
spreading infection:
* During all invasive procedures, wear gloves, a surgical mask, and
goggles or a face shield.
* During procedures that commonly generate droplets or splashes of
blood or other body fluids or bone chips, wear protective eyewear and
a mask or face shield.
* During invasive procedures that are unlikely to cause splashing or
splattering of blood or other body fluids, wear a gown or an
impervious apron.
* If you perform or assist in vaginal or cesarean deliveries, wear
gloves and a gown when handling the placenta or the infant and during
umbilical cord care.
