Hello Friends!
In an effort to bring you current information relevant to your electric co-op we found these interesting tidbits that have links to articles or a forum post on our website. Enjoy!
You have to read this interview with IREA's general manager! We have a general manager who refers to anybody who does not share his world view as his "enemies" and thinks the democratic process of replacing ineffective board members is a "coup." He apparently thinks his hate-speak and divisive, isolating policies are appropriate management tools for a (supposed) democratic organization. How did we get such an extreme alarmist at the helm of our co-op? Follow this link, log in, and post your two cents on our general manager if you are so inclined:
Once again, here is how IREA is seen in the public eye…speaking out AGAINST rebates for energy efficiency! IREA's policies are in serious need of review and change. The best way to voice your opinion is to become active with IREA Voices and help elect informed board members who will question such policies as are referenced in this article.
While the Delta Montrose Electric Association is working with Governor Ritter in creating jobs and helping those interested in effective energy solutions, IREA ignores him and impedes the economic incentives to IREA customers that the governor is fighting to put in place:
And finally, the president of IREA believes a program to exchange inefficient incandescent bulbs with compact florescent bulbs for IREA members on energy assistance would be "offensive". This indicates the inherent problem with many electric cooperatives, but especially IREA. Rather than "reliable electricity at the lowest price," the focus should be on offering members the best service. Serving the members' best interests is not done by simply burning dead dinosaurs, especially when there are less expensive and cleaner alternatives, such as energy efficiency that can be utilized.
