You may or may not be aware of house bill 10-1098 that is being considered at the statehouse. The passage of this bill is critical to taking our co-op back.


Of course, IREA has come out in opposition to this bill because it threatens the command and control governing style they have enjoyed for decades due to lack of effective oversight. Mike Kempe, the only IREA board member with vision, supports it. As a scientist at the National Renewable Energy Lab he has a unique perspective and can see through IREA management's endless propaganda to justify their investments in coal. Claire Levy has co sponsored HB 10-098. It will force needed reform on IREA and other rural co-ops. This is a common sense bill that puts in place controls that IREA should have adopted LONG ago.

Claire Levy has asked IREA Voices members to call or email state senators in IREA territory to voice support for this bill. A key provision has been removed that requires co-op employees to disclose any activities & donations to board election campaigns and we need to call Senator Mary Hodge to ask for her support of that section of the bill.
PLEASE DO THIS! IT IS A SMALL THING WITH HUGE IMPLICATIONS FOR OUR CO-OP, OUR NATION AND OUR CHILDREN!
