Subject: Sounding Rocket Launch of VIT students

Dear Sir

I am sending herewith some news paper cuttings on the successful launch of a sounding rocket at VSSC, Trivandrum on 7th of July 2010 at 3.50 pm. This was witnessed by Dr. P.S. Veeraragavan, the Director of VSSC, Trivandrum along with many senior Project Directors and officials involved in the launching. In the history of VSSC's 60 years experience in launching such rockets, this was the first one to be associated with a student group from a University in getting some parts designed (called as payloads), which are the most crucial equipment to monitor the rocket and record various atmospheric and other data. This was really one of the greatest moment for all of us at VIT, and specially all those students who participated in the project and witnessed the launching with great tension. Officials at VSSC were highly impressed about the caliber of our students and their dedication in achieving this target and participate wholly with them throughout the project.

It is also their desire that this type of joint cooperation should continue specially with student participation in meeting higher targets. VSSC Director has also promised to visit us some time later along with some of his officials in discussing the modalities and establish a suitable memorandum.

I request you all to extend cooperation in identifying innovative students interested in such space studies and exploration to make this joint venture between VIT and VSSC a notable and worthy one as well as serve as a role model for other universities.

With best regards
