I am trying to figure out how to rig the sail. This is the first time and I am not able to find any video or a manual to help me figure this out.

Your owner’s manual should have everything you need and can be found on the INA website.  BTW, there are at least two Nonsuch owners in your area.

This is the only reference from the manual. And the other Nonsuch owner is out for a week. So trying to figure things out. A video of someone rigging their NS would be really helpful.

I saw your sail in the bag sitting in the cockpit at Midway while the boat was tied to the dock. I think you are now at Liberty Landing so, the mechanical propulsion system must work well.

The following instructions will be easiest to accomplish with two people.

Note: Hopefully, your cradle lines open. If so follow the instructions below. If your cradle lines are only attached to each side of the wishboom, then you will need to untie one end of each. Maybe the forward two or three cradle lines can remain attached and you can get the flaked sail up and laying in the still attached cradle lines.

Take the flaked sail out of its bag while the bag is on the cabin top.  Find the luff edge.  Now determine which end of the luff has the headboard attached. This is the corner where the luff (edge of sail having the sail slides) meets the edge of the sail having the batten pocket openings.

Arrange the sail on the cabin top  so that when unrolled, the luff edge of the flaked sail is forward with the head on top of the flaked pile.

Open or remove whatever stop device is at the bottom of the sail track on the mast.

Starting with the head, install the luff’s sail slides onto the mast’s sail track.  You will need to hold up the already installed slides while installing the next slide.

Once all sail slides are on the track, reinstall the bottom stop system.

Next, lash the clew of the sail ( the corner where the foot of the sail and leech of the sail join. The leech has the batten pockets, the foot is a plain edge.) to the outboard end of the wishboom.

Attach the tack of the sail (The corner where the luff meets the foot) to the tack fitting on the mast.

The sail is now attached to the mast and wishboom.

Next install the battens in their pockets.  The pocket closure systems vary so without a photo of yours, I can’t advise how your pocket closures work.

Install the reefing lines according to the diagram.

Take the boat out into the bay.
Attach the halyard to the head of the sail.  Loosen the choker tension.
Head the boat into the wind and hoist the sail.
Will the sail hoist? If not, inspection should reveal what corrections you need to make.

Give it a go and good luck.

Ward -- can I have your permission to add these instructions to the New Nonsuch Owners Quick Guide?

Siva -- same question regarding your pictures and comments when you post them?
