Hi
I installed a surface mount Simpson/Lowrance much like the Profish 700 except with a capstan to port, chain gypsy to starboard.
I too ran the heavy cable from battery bank via breaker disconnect, mounted aft, to mast area. Windlass can be seen on website under "ideas".
Capstan can be used to handle main halyard.
Strong recommendation, divide the anchor locker into two sides. I used painted, tempered, 1/8 inch, Masonite with holes as used
for wall hanging tools , etc. Used two pieces, spliced together, in order to carry the separation from top to bottom.
Unfortunately, gypsy/capstan surface mounting products are frightfully expensive these days. Surface mounting is easiest to
install.
I too have a Classic NS 30 . I don't recall if the installation was done mast-in. My mast is easily accessible to
to non-midget bodies !!!..
Keep in mind that the windlass is not used to "unplug" the anchor from the muddy bottom. That is done
with the engine and boat motion. With a wireless control, this can be done single handed.
