I am looking to make some labels as I rewire . I have used electricians markers on some of the runs where there are connectors like the mast and I could easily go that route and mark my new fancy wiring diagram accordingly.

Is there a standard label stock out there I could laser print to?  I found this Avery product.

Cheers

Thor

PS I saw mention of this recently on the DG and for the life of me I can't find it.

You might take a look at "barbell labels".  Same website, type it in their search bar.  Look carefully at the different "materials" they offer.  They even have weather proof, laser printable options.

I'm not necessarily saying that's the best choice for wiring labels, just that they are a possibility if you are looking at Avery.

Be sure and laser print.  Laser toner is zillions of tiny plastic granules which are heat-fused together and to the substrate - little plastic letters.  Ink can bleed.

Try these. They work well.

Are you referring to panel labels Thor? I printed mine on standard Avery label stock and then “laminated” them by covering them with clear packing tape before cutting them out. They worked very well.

I thought about labelling individual wires but ended up just adding a legend by the fuse block / contact strip area and colour coding my mast wires with shrink tube.

I’m not sure if this would work for your particular situation but I have used Dymo Letratag printers to make labels for cords with great success in the past. I worked in the public aquarium industry and would label all of the various cords for the life support systems with them. Being able to create the labels on site is handy.

My thinking right now is to label the big wires at the 12both, common ground  and the windlass wires.  The panel has labels so the positive is ok , maybe a  list like Paul's  would be easier for the negative pane bus.  I have small wrap around wire labels at the mast and instrument box junctions, they work well when having to pair up connections . But now I am not removing and reinstalling the mast every year.......
I am too embarrassed to publish pictures of the mess behind my panel.

I have a P Touch label maker on board similar to this one: https://amzn.to/3JtVGql. I find it very useful to make quick labels of various sizes and colors.
