Dear publishing friend,
Please excuse this email out of the blue.
Parallax Press is looking to hire an editor for books emerging from Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism, of which we are a part, and I thought you might know the right person or have them in your networks. We are searching for an editor who will be dedicated to books by senior teachers in the Plum Village tradition, including as-yet unpublished books by our founder, Thich Nhat Hanh. This job comes with the opportunity to work remotely from home and in person from the monasteries of Plum Village in southwest France. It is full-time, 32–40 hours a week, with benefits if based in the US.
If you know anyone who may relish the chance to work professionally as an editor while practicing mindfulness in Plum Village, would you be kind enough to share this job posting with them? I have attached the posting here and it is also on our website.
Ideally the person would be already very familiar with the Plum Village tradition and practice, but we are open to people with editorial talent who understand Thich Nhat Hanh's contribution to society and to Buddhist literature, have experienced the benefits of mindfulness, and have a sincere wish to practice right livelihood. Although our extended global community has 11 monasteries and many thousands of lay Sanghas worldwide, Parallax is a small team that works closely together. We offer competitive salaries along with a benefits package for US employees: health, vision, dental; retirement plan and life insurance; 22 days of paid holidays plus generous paid time off every year; and a thoughtful, convivial remote workplace culture. We also provide one paid personal retreat a year at any monastery or center in the Plum Village tradition in the US or France, which we treat as staff development time, as well as a sabbatical program. While our world is changing rapidly from climate and social change, we aspire to offer teachings that contribute to collective insight and awakening, bringing about a more joyful, healthy, and compassionate society.
US and international candidates are equally welcome to apply. US candidates would be eligible for full-time permanent employment, and non-US candidates for contract work in compliance with the law of their country of residence, renewable annually.
With much appreciation for any help you can give finding this special person!
Warmly,
Hisae
