Hello sangha --
I've been slow to get the word out about my upcoming workshop. I do a
kind of physical theater improv that I think of as mindfulness in
motion -- it's complementary to sitting practices where we follow the
breath, do noting & body sweeps, etc... -- but applied to intentional
movement, vocalization & playfullness.
Anyway, I'd like to offer this weekend's workshop on a dana basis to
anyone in the Insight Meditation community. Details are at
www.awarenessarts.com;
I invite you to ignore the $120 price tag; pay anywhere from $0 to
$___ , as long as you give me advance notice that you're coming. Just
email me & say you're with IMCB.)
Basic logistics:
The Essence of Action: An Intro to Physical Theater Improv (A workshop
rooted in Action Theater, "the improvisation of presence".)
Saturday & Sunday: July 19-20, 10:30-3:30 (it's okay to come for just
part of it.)
Wildcat Studio, Berkeley, 2525 8th St (at Dwight)
Next workshop after this will be July 9-11, led by Sten Rudstrom, a
Berlin-based teacher who ghost-wrote Ruth Zaporah's book, "Action
Theater, The Improvisation of Presence." He'll be partnering with a
somatic movement therapist, combining Action Theater with Laban/
Somatic work. Info is at
www.awarenessarts.com. (I can give an IMCB
discount to Sten's workshop, but can't make that one dana-based, since
he's coming from Berlin.)
Hope to see some of you in the studio!
