Dear IISR colleagues,

I am developing a proposal for a special issue of the Infant Mental Health Journal on "Infant Sign as Intervention." I've mentioned this idea to several of you throughout the last year, and I am certain that a number of you will have papers from your recent or current studies that would be appropriate for this special issue. I envision it as an opportunity to present a set of studies describing (1) the use of infant signing as an intervention with a variety of populations in a variety of settings, (2) the effects of those interventions on parenting, parent-child interaction, and child development (focused on social-emotional development, but inclusive of communication and language), and (3) the challenges or barriers to using infant signs as intervention.

In the proposal, I need to give the editor of the Infant Mental Health Journal a description of the kinds of contributions (papers) I can expect, a list of potential contributors, and a list of potential peer-reviewers.
If you have results that would fit into this special issue, and that you would consider submitting to the journal, I would love to have a tentative/preliminary paper title and abstract from you. Also please let me know if you would consider serving as a peer reviewer for the issue.
Please respond within one month, by the end of March, to let me know whether you would like to be involved in this project, and how.

I will keep you posted as this project develops, and you will be the first to see the Call for Papers when it goes out (assuming that the editor agrees to the project).

Thank you,

~Claire
