Hello IISR group,

Mechthild Kiegelmann and I are putting together a symposium proposal for the APA (American Psychological Association) conference (August 2008, Boston). The symposium will encompass a number of current research topics under the heading: "Infant Signing: Research on the Controversy and Complimentarity."  The idea is to present research on both the areas of conflict around the idea of encouraging Infant Signing and the ways in which it is complimentary to other communication systems ( i.e. sign languages, spoken language, and conventional gesture).

We would like to have a number of short talks (about 10 - 15 minutes each) followed by a discussion. If you are interested in presenting, please send Mechthild and I an email with the title of your talk as soon as possible. The abstracts for each paper in the symposium must be 300 words or less, and are due December 3rd (next Monday). So please forward your abstracts to both Mechthild and I by this weekend.

Our email addresses are: mechthild....@uni-tuebingen.de, vall...@gse.harvard.edu,

~Claire

Hello Claire,

Have you heard yet whether the symposium has been accepted for the WIMH
Conference in Japan?

Warm wishes,

Karen

Hi Karen,
No, I haven't heard yet about the WAIMH symposium yet. I don't think we'll hear until January.
I will let you know as soon as I hear anything.
