I would like to pass on that a source of GF-certified, organic spices
has been found! They can be ordered by individuals from this website:

http://www.spicely.com/

They are sold in some Whole Foods and other stores, but not anywhere
in Seattle yet. I just e-mailed Madison Market to see if they would
consider carrying them (at least for their packaged spices, since bulk
ones would be at risk for cross-contamination anyway). (I'm not sure
that they offer their products in bulk.) Other people could contact
their grocery stores and request them too, if interested.

In relation to the previous Google group post about all spices being
GF. . . I'd also clarify that the issue there is the one of cross-
contamination. An example is the company Frontier who supplies a lot
of local stores (as well as GF Joe's in the Olympia area). Because
they manufacture flour at the same facility they say they can't claim
that they are GF. The owner of GF Joe's wasn't aware of that, which is
a reminder to everyone to continue to do their own homework.

I found this spice source by going to the website for GIG's Gluten-
Free Certification Program, and looking at what products are certified
and then e-mailing the manufacturer about availability. Maybe you have
that link on the Wiki or somewhere, but if not, here it is to pass the
word. I imagine I will use it a fair amount. I hope it's helpful to
others too!
