Does anyone know the proper format to use when creating barcodes for
Manager ID's? We have used UPC-A UPC-E and EAN-8 without success.
Does the last digit of the manager ID need to be the check digit of the
barcode?

I think you use the first 4 (nonzero in the 1st position) combined with
the last 4 digits.

For example:

Supervisor # = 01234567890, make a barcode on # 1234789,
Or
Supervisor # 1234, make the barcode = 12341234

Oops, Supervisor # = 01234567890, make a barcode on # 12347890

Forgot the last zero, I don't think you use a check digit..

Look at page 295 in the ACE Planning and Installation manual.

When scanning a manager override ID, the first four non-zero digits and
the last four non-zero digits of the UPC bar code are read as the
override ID. For example, a bar code containing 1234560000 would be
read as 12343456, where 1234 are the first four non-zero digits and
3456 are the last four non-zero digits. A bar code containing 012000001
is not valid, because it does not yield eight non-zero digits.

Steve is correct.

My experience with ACE V4 is that the above configuration for scanning
Manager overide barcodes is no longer valid. Once I migrated to V4 my
old barcodes no longer worked. I found that barcodes must now be the
same number as entered in the Managers ID table.

#16960975 now has a barcode of the same #16960975000.

I do not like this change myself, because if the barcode is scanned
without the "Override" key being pressed first, you get a "B026 Item
Not Found" followed by the UPC that was scanned. Thus making the MO
number visible to all, with out the slight encrypting mentioned above.

Can someone help me understand what my bar code would be? I am a key holder and not even sure how to make the bar code, the attempts I have tried have failed. My id is 670459. Thanks

UPC-A works fine but as I learned it (and have since forgotten) the manager numbers need to be in a certain format.  I am thinking it reads the first 4 and last four non zero numbers.  EX: 1234005678 might be legit.  Play with that some and see if you can’t get it to work.

Excerpt from Toshiba ACE Planning and Installation Guide:

When scanning a manager override ID, the first four non-zero digits and the last four non-zero digits of

the UPC bar code are read as the override ID. For example, a bar code containing 1234560000 would be

read as 12343456, where 1234 are the first four non-zero digits and 3456 are the last four non-zero digits.

A bar code containing 012000001 is not valid, because it does not yield eight non-zero digits.

Your manager number 670459 cannot be made into a barcode that will scan on ACE. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Peace!

I use upca and format the 8 digits like this: 12340005678. I'm sure you can do similar, 12300000456 since ace ignores the 0.

To scan in ACE the override number in personalization is always eight digits. The barcode can be any combination of numbers in a UPC-A as long there are four non-zero digits.

For example, your MOD 670459 would be 00000670459 barcode would be 67457459 in ACE personalization. Wayne’s 12340005678 barcode would be 12345678 in ACE personalization.

This is the only way it works. There are no parameters to change the way ACE translates the barcode on an override.

Peace!
