Carson City Hospital preparing historical display

Do you have historical items from hospital history you'd like to share or contribute??

With the completion of the new Emergency Department facility, Carson City Hospital is now moving forward with construction of the new front entrance and lobby area, scheduled to open in December 2007.

A part of the new lobby area has been reserved for a display of the hospital's 71-year history.

Some of the focus points in the planning stages are:
* the hospital's founding in 1936 by Dr. Binkert in what was then his home;
* the intern training program;
* the major addition in 1957;
* the community-wide testimonial held for Dr. Binkert in 1966;
* the tenure of Donald McKenna, administrator from 1946-1981;
* the transition that began in 1979 to the leadership of Bruce L. Traverse, current president/CEO
