Well, breathe slowly…it does not have to be a daunting task. Start
small. Take your favorite memory and write or type what you remember.
If you have a photo to go with it, great, get it out and look at it as
you write. Think about sounds, smells, tastes and what you remember
seeing. Be descriptive. Call a friend/family member who was there and
discuss it. They may recall something you forgot.
You don’t have to write 15 pages. Write one or just take some rough
notes. You can always go back and tidy it up later on. Then take a
break. Read someone else’s Autobiography to elicit some ideas and get
you in the creative zone. Right now we really like André Agassi’s new
Autobiography ‘Open’. It’s a totally heartfelt and candid look at this
tennis champs ups and downs:
Even if you only write about one memory this year, it’s a start.
If you start this way you will find the task less daunting. Writing
about your happy memories will be fun. Writing about less than happy
memories will be therapeutic. Either way, your stories matter. You
will be doing yourself and your loved ones an injustice if you don’t
at least document some of your past.
We have some great primers to get you started. These FREE

If you want to write an Autobiography you will most likely have your
own personal reasons for doing so. Whatever these are they are
important enough to start writing something, or you would never have
had the thought in the first place.
