I have a couple of voice prospects each with two potential
requirements that we haven’t addressed before.
1. Canadian customer in Winnipeg, can we legally offer them
service and if so can we support their 204 area code number. Such as
porting the number to us.
[Stephen McCarthy] no. we can’t support Canada. The customer can
always take his phone to Canada with a US number but 911 will stay at
the US address and cannot be updated.
2. Back to the US, customer has a couple of lines to port one
being a toll free line. Is there a difference with a ported toll free
number?
[Stephen McCarthy] No but there is a caveat. If the toll free and no
toll free are on the same bill, the toll free must port first. If you
port the non toll free, the toll free can disappear into
neverneverland.
3. I haven’t setup a toll-free number yet. Do you typically just
add it to a user or AA as an alternate number?
[Stephen McCarthy] Yes. Alternate number is the best. You can also
forward it . A seat cannot have only a toll free number. If you want
only a toll free number on a seat, you must call forward always the
toll free to the extension. You cannot use toll free as the
outbound caller ID.
4. What has been your pricing scheme for a Toll-free line on the
minutes side?
[Stephen McCarthy] When we do seat bundles, we throw in the toll free
minutes. Customer pays for regular inbound and toll free is around .
005 more expensive. For overage, we bill all minutes including 800 at
3 cents. Average toll free cost is around 1.7 cents. For SIP
trunking, we throw in 1,000 any minutes onto a SIP trunk for $14.75
per month. Overage for normal calls is 1.5 cents. Overage for 800 is
2.5.
