[Cita – New]
Cita chewed her bottom lip. It was clear that this group of shadow
spawn had attacked this band of travellers – such as they were, seldom
had Cita seen such a motley crew – and now this goblin rider was
trying to leave to get help. It also seemed that this is why Charl,
or whatever had possessed him, had brought her here for.
Cita could see that there were two gnomes with the group and that one
of them had been seriously hurt. Her better judgement was overridden
by concern for the small gnome who reminded her so starkly of the
adopted family she had just left behind. She reasoned with herself.
It wasn't as though she had to step into the fight – the gruesome
orc-like creature and fearsome dwarf seemed to be doing an inordinate
amount of damage without her – all she had to do was to stop this pair
from bringing reinforcements.
Her moment of indecision over, Cita boldly stepped out from her
boulder as the goblin rider passed by.
"Hello!" she said brightly in her most friendly and winning tone. The
reaction was instant, both worg and rider turned towards her
incredulously, as though not sure how do deal with this new piece of
information. Charl, sensing what she was up to, threaded his way
through her legs, purring comfortingly.
She took a step towards them, muttered a few quite words under her
breath, the smile never leaving her face, and with a quick flick of
her wrist released a spell [cast dancing lights].
Suddenly a glowing ball of purple light appeared hovering above her
fingertips. Flicking the purple incandescent orb lightly from hand to
hand faster and faster, Cita spun it in an intricate pattern that
almost defied the mind to follow.
The goblin and worg eyed the ball cautiously but were still a little
mesmerised by the child-like creature's sudden appearance.
Once she was sure she had their complete attention she began to recite
the droning words of a spell of hypnosis. The individual words were
hard to follow, but the tone was both commanding and soothing, lulling
any listener's mind until they no longer fought the spell.
Once the spell was released, Cita continued to talk in the calm but
firm voice, "There's not reason to hurry off. Why don't you both just
stay here with me for a while?"
Cita knew she was taking quite a risk, if either of the pair were not
affected she could be in big trouble.
Urokk gritted his teeth. He appeared totally absorbed with the worg he fought tooth and jowl, but he was still aware of what was going on around him and he did not like what he saw. The gnomes had retreated, that had always been the plan, but Brew! He was meant to be the level headed one, the one who took control of things. The man had power, they needed it, why wasn't he using it? And Ganwin! Didn't the kid learn? He had a fragile constitution and threw himself into confrontations like Grakram did. The other three were handling themselves well, but only one goblin lay dead. Perhaps he had been foolish to listen to Brew. Goblins were always underestimated foes.
The frustration of the desperate battle began to consume the dworg. He felt the teeth of his adversary rip into his shoulder and he lost control.
Urokk fell into the trance that Grakram called the battle dream. It was an apt name for one aspect of the dworg's mind was taken up with pure anger that he channelled subconsciously into strength, focussed entirely upon his enemies, but another part of his mind was at peace.
It was as if his eyes had lifted out of his body to watch it flail and thrash from somewhere above his head. It was a relaxing feeling, as though the blooded and bitten hideous creature, that snarled and shrieked unintelligible battle cries, was somebody else. He saw everything in slow motion, emotionlessly. He cared nothing when he saw himself wide open after delivering a reckless blow or missing an opportunity that he would have taken advantage of if conscious and all the time the sound was muffled as if he held his hands hard over his ears.
[OOC - Activate rage.
Oh and by the way Fabian you call the worg fighting
Ganwin a dworg in the last paragraph.
Also I hope you've been remembering Urokk's damage reduction he gets as level 5 Iron born]
