As they had walked down the mountain and off onto the
side trail, Greta had been enjoying the sun, its rays
warming her. She had felt the warmth, despite the
void, which had pleasantly surprised her. She wore a
smile on her face, the first in quite some time.
The fact that they were almost out of the mountains
contributed to her smile. She had grown as a warrior
in the forests and grasslands of Erenland that
bordered the Sea of Pelluria. The mountains were so
harsh and so barren to Greta. Plus, out on the
grasslands there wasn’t the threat of an orc ambush
waiting around every turn or switchback. With the
stone walls looming overhead, with the peaks and the
clouds blocking out the sun, Greta had felt confined
in the mountains which had made the feeling of
paranoia worse. With the prospects of wide open
spaces in the near future, that was something to look
forward to.
Greta leaned back against the cavern wall. Grakram was
looking at some more of the symbols. She felt a
slight stab of hunger, once they were out of the
mountains perhaps they could get some decent food.
Some fish or a rabbit or well anything but ort or
whatever unknown dried meat still lingered in the
depths of their packs. Compared to the past couple of
weeks, Greta had lived like a noble with her band in
the forest. And what she wouldn’t give for a nice
forest stream to take a bath in. Greta shook her head
vigorously, this line of thinking was just making
things worse. Greta looked back at the door and
sighed, she didn’t feel like going into a hole just
yet. So Greta stood up and moved back to the mouth of
the cave and looked up at the sky. She didn’t know
how anyone could prefer to live under the earth. Lost
in her own thoughts, Greta soaked up a few more
moments of sun light.

Hope for the Children - A Midnight PBEM
The wildlander approached the wall and reached to the pictographs only to be
stopped by urokk, As being explaining about the traps that was probably for
the best he thought..
Ganwin and grakram approached the wall, kruack stepped aside to let the
dwarf get a closer look, The dwarf came back with it being about some childs
nursery ryhme...
Kruack noticed how low to the ground these things started so proceeded to
kneel a couple feet to the side of the dwarf..
So Grakram, any idea what this nursery rhyme is all about? While waiting for
his response kruack proceeded very carfully searching(spot/search) the wall
face without touching it..
After some time has passed and hearing of what the others were talking about
in setting a trap here.. This would be a good idea although I dont think
magically means are the answer nor leaving anyone behind here either, If
there is one of the legates or whatever with them they will surely see
through the magical scam, and if there is a really large force they may not
all enter this area but if they are tracking us I am sure we could make it
noticable that we came this way while hiding our actual trail.
RPG: "Gotta be the lockin' mechanism be hidden here somewhere, but
I be buggered if I know where," Grakram grunted, more than a touch of
pride in his voice. It only was to show that when a dwarf built a
secret door it stayed secret, well and truly. Not like some shoddy
Manling craftsmanship.
"Though I be pretty sure if we botch the job o' openin' the door,
we ain't gonna git another go at it," Grakram added casually, as if
the prospect of triggering some horrible rockfall trap didn't count
as a threat. Indeed, for a dwarf, buried alive was a comforting way to
go, after a fashion. The bodies would be buried for all time, safe from
the corrupting touch of the Shadow... though Grakram would be mighty
displeased if that became his doom. He had a grander death in mind for
himself.
REF: "We could leave and then I could fake a more obvious trail into
this place, I could slip out and we could wait for our pursuit to come
in and bring half the mountain down on their own heads. With Brew's
help I bet we could really make them believe they've got us.
RPG: Grakram gave Ganwin a sour look that told plain and simple what he
considered the odds to be for a Manling to alter a dwarven trap.
"Worry more 'bout figurin' this trap out 'fore ye go 'bot
redesignin' it," the dwarf growled. "While ye be at it, those who
ain't thinkin' o' helpin' mighta best git scarce. Someone needs
tae git away clean if I trigger the bloody thing by accident."
TAG: Everyone interested...
NRPG: Grakram stands with his nose practically in the pictographs. So,
there's nothing "wrong" with them? No panels in the wrong order,
to indicate there might be hidden touch plates underneath? I assume he
didn't find anything like that when searching? Does Grakram know if
dwarves employ magic as means of opening shelters like this? If not,
muttering the rhyme aloud will only be a sign of his brain curdling ;^)
-Jussi / Grakram
There are five panels and each has a piece of the nursery rhyme inscribed in it. Of
course, no one but someone raised by a dwarf would know this so the only ones that have a
chance are Urokk and Grakram.
Guys both of you remind me of your 'upbringing' and whether you have enjoyed time with a
'mother' who would sing this to you or not. Based on your response, I'll assign a
probability of knowing the rhyme. Just to give you an idea, a 'normal' dwarf would have a
100% chance of knowing it but neither Grakram nor Urokk are 'normal'. But Grakram did
spend time with the kids teaching them things (like how to nail an orc to a tree so
there's a chance that a kid would teach him the nursery rhyme).
Greta stood at the mouth of the cave and stared up at
the sky. She looked back into the cave and saw
Grakram staring intently at the carvings on the stone.
Greta wasn't sure what the hold up was but she hoped
it took him a bit longer to figure out what to do
next. She just didn't feel like being cooped up in a
cave, she wanted the open air. Of course, camping in
the cave was necessary, Greta wasn't a fool, but...
Greta sighed, it was a rather nice day. She had
learned to treasure these days whenever she
encountered one, you never knew when or if you'd see
the next one.
With a sigh Greta moved just inside the mouth of the
cave and sat down. She took out her spear and started
to sharpen the head. She looked back at Grakram, shook
her head, and went back to her work.
