"Goblins!" Urokk spat the word. There was only one thing he hated more than goblins and that was orcs. Five goblins would not cause them much trouble, but on worgs they might and the fact that the night wolf had found them again was unsettling.
"Let's do this controlled," the dworg suggested in his gruff voice, lips struggling around his oversized canines to pronounce the words. "We got time this time."
[Tag – any]
"Wendel, Artur!"
Wendel responded to Urokk with a mocking military salute that would have been comical on the little fellow were not for his grim eyes and his cousin cowering at his shoulder. The pair had seen death, and come close to it, one too many times to have much of a sense of humour. The dworg both pitied them and admired their courageous pluck. Would he be so willing to face a horde of worg riders if he was so small?
"Get your bows and go with Kurack. He'll show you what to target. When they get too close, pull back to the cave."
The pair looked blankly at the dworg.
"Go!" He shouted and they turned and ran to kurack more fearful of the dworg than the goblins, for the time being.
"That wolf and those worgs are gonna be tough." Urokk explained, untying his great sling from around his waste as he walked towards the entrance. "Greta you should be able to take the wind out of them if you set that spear up against their charge."
[Tag – Geta]
Urokk stepped outside squinting in the sunlight. [OOC - What time of day is it?]
"Let's see if we can create a bit of confusion by killing the riders before they're upon us," Urokk stated as he whirled his sling around his head. The weapon span faster and faster until it hummed on the air. Finally he let it go and a stone sped out towards the lead rider.
[Hit]
The force of the stone jarred the goblin in its saddle and caused the worg to rear up under it from the sudden strain on its reins. The beast snarled angrily and burst forward, faster in its charge.
[Miss]
The riders were still too far away for the dworg's simple weapon to be very effective and the stone landed short of its mark.
As soon as the stone was loose Urokk bent down to search for another.
"No you fool!" Brew exclaimed in desperation. "Don't you learn? Remember what happened last time. When the wolf turned so did the others. Aim for the wolf, for sprits sake!"
Urockk grunted noncommittally in reply but switched his aim. The second stone flew towards the night wolf.
[Hit]
It thudded into the creature's thick fur covered side like rain on rock. The wolf neither noticed nor was slowed by the blow.
[Miss]
As the stone flew wide…
Urokk dropped his sling and reached over his back for his urutuks. He preferred close combat. He liked to see the pain he inflicted on his hated enemies' faces. He liked to feel the breaking of bones and warm blood splash over him.
[OOC – Fabian, you sent me the details of Urokk's two urutuks last time but I seem to have lost the attachment. Could you send it again?]
Calmly, Greta placed her whetstone into her belt
pouch. She unclasped her cloak and let it fall to the
ground as she felt the empty calm of the Void fill
her. She stood at the cave mouth and gazed at their
opposition, more shadow-spawn she would be more than
eager to send to the grave. She heard Urokk shouting
commands behind her but her battle trance was not
broken until she heard Urokk speak her name.
[Urokk/Old]
"That wolf and those worgs are gonna be tough." Urokk
explained, untying his great sling from around his
waste as he walked towards the entrance.
"Greta you should be able to take the wind out of them
if you set that spear up against their charge."
[Greta/New]
Greta turned and looked at the dworg, her face once
again utterly expressionless.
"Indeed, assuming they're dumb enough to charge me..."
Greta said dryly.
Greta doubted the warg riders would be so
accomodating. If everyone in the group had a spear
it'd be another story but...Greta dismissed those idle
thoughts with a shake of her head. She knew she
needed to keep the Night Wolf away from Brew and the
gnomes. The Night Wolf may not care enough to avoid
her.
[Round 1]
Casually, Greta walked over to a position that was in
line with the Night Wolf. The beast was slavering and
enraged, its eyes gleaming. With no fear in her heart
Greta called out to it.
"Come and fight me spawn of darkness,"
(Greta moves to a position so the Night Wolf could
charge at her; assuming this doesn't require her to
run way off to the side from the cave or anything.)
[Round 2]
The beast was almost upon her, with every heartbeat it
bounded closer to her, its fangs bared. Calmly, Greta
knelt and dug her spear end into the ground so that
the head stood out before her, the black head waiting
to bite into the flesh of the wolf.
(Greta sets her spear for charge and hopes the night
wolf obliges her. Assuming he does...)
(Greta hits)
The enraged wolf lunged for her and drove itself onto
her spear. The force of the impact almost knocked her
off her feet but the she held on as the barbed head
dug in deep.
(Greta misses)
Unfortunately the wolf weaved away at the last second
and Greta's spear missed by inches. A spike of anger
surged in Greta and she spat a curse as she prepared
to strike again.
(If the wolf won't actually get to her until Turn 3
Greta will set for charge and wait for the Wolf)

"Let's do this controlled," the dworg suggested in his
gruff voice, lips struggling around his oversized
canines to pronounce the words. "We got time this
time."
[Brew/new]
Brew's expression turned sour. Time? There was never
enough time. Brew almost spoke up but decided to stay
silent; this wasn't a time to argue, the enemy was
rapidly approaching. Plus any argument with Urokk
wasn't likely to be a short one, Brew reflected.
And the night wolf had returned. That made Brew
uneasy. It had returned and brought friends; and Brew
would have bet that there were more than simply a few
worg riders. There was likely a patrol or war band out
there somewhere. Brew took out his flask and took a
long drink; the rotgut burning as it went down. Brew
rolled his eyes as Urokk started barking out orders.
He wiped his mouth with his sleeve and put his flask
back as he moved towards the mouth to get a look
outside.
He saw the five worg riders beairng down on the
group; the riders shouting insults and battle cries,
the worgs yipping and snarling. Brew scratched his
chin as a thought sprang to his mind.
"These are probably just scouts; we can't let any of
them escape!" he warned the others. It may not have
been necessary, but he thought it couldn't hurt to say
so anyway.
[tag/any]
[Turn 1]
Brew gauged the distance between the riders and the
group. It looked too far for his sling. Brew knew
what he needed to do, although it was risky. He hoped
that the scouts were well in advance of any leaders
they may have. He just needed the enemy to get a
little bit closer. He noticed a couple of the riders
had crossbows and, not wanting to be a target, Brew
deftly moved behind Urokk.
(Brew moves behind Urokk and waits.)
[Turn 2]
This was it, time to roll the dice.
"Here goes nothing..." he muttered to himself as he
concentrated and focused his energy. He uttered a few
words and pointed at the ground in front of the worg
riders and instantly the grass and weeds that had
sprouted amongst the rocky soil of the pass grew
strong and reached out to grab the worgs and their
goblin masters.
(Brew casts Entangle, trying to target as many worg
riders as possible)
(OOC: Well, hopefully this was true to Brew. It can
always be a bit challenging trying to get into another
PC's head but I hope I can do a good job of it. If
anyone has ideas or suggestions let me know. Thanks)
As the rogue moved towards one of the many shadows, he bared his teeth
in a fierce smile. Even though their little group had walked into this
cave less than an hour before, it seemed like they had spent months
staring at that stupid children's rhyme.
[reverse tag from Brew]
"No you fool!" Brew exclaimed in desperation. "Don't you learn?
Remember what happened last time. When the wolf turned so did the
others. Aim for the wolf, for sprits sake!"
[reverse tag from Brew]
Ganwin nodded to himself at Brew's wisdom and began to circle to the
right, attempting to avoid the notice of the warg riders and get at the
Nightwolf
[Both rounds sneaking towards the Nightwolf, looking for a good spot to
pounce from]
We're only waiting on Kruack, Ganwin, and Grakram. If we can get those by
tomorrow, I'll try and recap Tuesday.
Game on!
Fabian
RPG: "That be more like it!" the dwarf grunted, eagerly leaving behind
the embarrassment of the riddle to focus on the bloodletting to come.
The shame he had felt as he failed to decipher the rhyme (What proper
dwarf would use such a pansy childhood song in any case? The engineer
who had designed the door had obviously gone soft in the head, Grakram
reasoned) evaporated like morning dew under the heat of the forge as
Grakram drew his shining mithril axe and tested the edge with his
thumb, drawing blood.
Grinning with grim pleasure, he tasted the blood and allowed a few
drops to fall on the bones of the mountain, feeding the Spirit Below.
"More where that came from, ain't there just," he muttered as he cast
one last disgusted look at the door before marching to take his place
in the front lines. He peeked out, saw the goblins charge towards
them, waving their weapons.
"If ye ain't git a bow, keep yer arses outta the open!" Grakram
growled, sharing his opinion in his usual heart-warming manner. If the
goblins wanted to charge, it made sense to wait them out in the
passage. It was when that charge faltered near the side of the
mountain when came the time for them to join the fight.
"Come here, ye gouty sons o' pixies!" the dwarf roared in the Orcish
tongue. "Me an' me axe hunger fer blood! Feed us!"
TAG: Everyone interested...
NRPG: Let's see if I remember all the tricks I planned for this build,
shall we? Don't have the Midnight rulebook at hand and I noticed I
hadn't update the Dorthane's axe's stats to my copy of the sheet. Mind
digging the details for me, Fabian? As much as Grakram is aware of, of
course.
Since the enemy has crossbows, I suggest we set up battle lines where
the enemy cannot make use of said ranged weapons; our archers can slip
though the lines, fire, and then retreat before the melee is joined.
Perhaps a new map that would show the enemy positions, the sliding
rock wall, the area just outside, high ground etc.
First round; moving to front line, axe and shield set. Waiting for the
enemies to approach. Ready to let archers retreat through the lines if
they go out to shoot at the enemy while they approach.
Second round; still waiting, as you said the critters would arrive on
round 3.

Kruack/New
The wildlander draws his sword and steps near urrok and says "What do you have in mind?"
Hearing what the dworg had to say and beleived it to be sound, He sheathed his sword and retreives his hand-crossbow then turned to wendell and Artur, Lets Go and try to get in range he stated to the pair...
He then turned and moved towards the entrance without blocking the way where they may get a clean shot at the night wolf..Target the wolf he stated to the gnomes lets at least weaken that one..
Kruack, loaded a bolt and took carfull aim before letting the bolt fly being sure the wolf was in range and line of sight adjusting his postion slightly as needed. wendell and Artur he exclaimed take aim and be ready to let them fly...I will try to keep the at a small distance so you can continue to fire..
"with the bolt in the air" kruack releases his grip on the Hand-crossbow as it falls to the to his side he draws his 2 daggers and charges to the pack with dagger in each hand when in range he leaps forward to them trying to knock-off a rider or 2 while trying to stick a dagger into a worg
