Great turn!

I expect this turn to be more interactive so it may take a little longer to recap. That's OK; I'm fine as long as there are involved players posting.

Let's focus on roleplaying the immediate scene; read the OOC.

Questions, comments, and/or suggestions?

Enjoy!

Urokk was still consumed by an all encompassing battle fury.  There were still enemies that breathed and he lusted after their blood.  His awareness was tunnelled into a singularity.  The worg he was fighting had turned heel.  Without hesitation the dworg pursued the beast, chopping at its flank as it ran.  [OOC - attack of opportunity?]

The worg was fast, but over a short distance Urokk could match its speed.  When he came to the area filled with entangling vines, the dworg's powerful legs projected him into the air so that he could keep level with the beast, lashing out again and again with his hatchets chopping the unnatural wolf into blood and bone.

The plants snaked up around his ankles and clutched at his arms hampering his movement, pulling him down, but there was still one worg standing, not to mention the one that had got away.  Urokk pulled at the vegetation ripping it from its roots as he headed with a single purpose towards the remaining beast.  He had dropped his urutuks now such was his focus.  He intended to squeeze this one to death with his bare hands.  Relentlessly he dragged himself through the vines.

[OOC - In his rage I cannot see Urokk stopping until everything is dead.

His move is 40 but he can move three times his movement in a single combat round, so he should be able to keep up with the worgs.  He will chase them down until they're dead or his rage ends and he's fatigued.  I just don't know how far to take it without knowing whether he manages to get through the entangled area in time to stop the last worg.

If they're still running away he should get plenty of attacks of opportunity to kill them without too much trouble, if he can reach them that is.]

But the beast somehow saw the wildlander’s attempt and twisted its huge body around.  Not only did it move out of the sword’s swing, it also brought it face to face with the sword wielder.  The huge maw opened and chomped down on Kruack’s upper arm; only one of the wildlander’s metal studs saved his appendage.

Kruack/New

Seeing the wolf turn back to the dwarf and now lay dead, the wildlander dropped his sword and grabbed his arm while falling to his knees in pain...

He had let out a few grunts of pain as he tried to retreive his back and bandaged his arm.

With his arm now bandaged kruack stummbled back to his feet, to take stock of what was going on around him and to sort through the last few moments of the battle in his mind..he looked towards the worgs now retreating through the vines and urrokk quickly following behind..as he looked through the weeds he noticed the outline of what seemed to be a female halfling but she was still some distance away

Knowing he did not have the time to do anything nor the strength to use his crossbow... Athur!!.he shouted..Get the worgs..he continued..

The wildlander contiued to look around to each in his party in turn for the most part the seemed to fair well..Until his eyes hit upon ganwin, he laid motionless on the ground... Kruack made his way towards the rogues body (first aid)

(tag anyone)

As kruack tended to the rogues wounds he glanced around looking for brew...Knowing time was short the wildlander called out BREW....Quickly..We need to act fast..

REF: Blood quickly seeped through his fingers but Grakram smiled,
grunting at the dead wolf literally in two pieces.

RPG: No sooner had the wolf fallen than the sweet taste of victory was
snatched from the dwarven warrior. The spirit, the spawn of the Shadow
that had possessed the wolf manifested and raced away, no doubt to
report to its master or in search for another beast it could enter.
Grakram slashed his gleaming axe through the wavering outline of the
invisible presence, but to his disappointment the weapon encountered
no resistance as it passed through the spirit. The dwarf cold do
little but curse as the apparition raced unhindered through Brew's
spell, far faster than a mortal dwarf could ever follow.

That left only the routed goblins and their worgs. Knowing from past
experience that it would be a chore to hack and slash his way through
the verdant obstacle, Grakram saw little choice in the matter; there
were living enemies almost close enough to touch, and by the Spirit he
wasn't going to allow them to flee without giving chase!

Growling a challenge, the dwarf ran headlong into the tangle of
animated vines and weeds, slashing his axe left and right in an
attempt to clear way to the nearest enemy.

** If he gets that far...

Every step was a struggle but Grakram prevailed, cutting vines that
tried to wrap around his legs with his axe, uprooting them with his
shield hand, even kicking and stomping as he went shoots just in the
process of rising through the hard ground. And as hard as the going
was for him, it had proven harder still for the worg ahead; Grakram
had made use of the path the beast had ripped through the tangle to
reach the far end.

Laughing and chanting, the dwarf leaped the last few feet to get
within reach and swung his axe in a high arch, aiming at the entangled
beast's hindquarters.

** If (As is more likely) he gets entangled too soon...

Turning the air blue with a steady stream of curses and bloody oaths,
Grakram waded through the obstacle. He had tried to follow the path
the worg had cleared for itself, but the magically animated plants
were faster, growing to block the path once more, forcing the dwarf to
advance one step at a time, constantly getting bound by the roots and
vines, only to waste precious seconds ripping himself free and getting
stuck again a few feet further in.

TAG: Everyone interested...

NRPG: Writing this offline and don't have the tactical map handy, but
did Grakram not get any AoOs when the enemy started retreating? Or did
they all go for withdrawal actions?

Anyway, what's a self-respecting barbarian to do when the enemy turns
tail? Why, to run after them is what! I imagine Grakram will get
entangled but there is always the off-chance that he'll at least get
close enough to an enemy to hit it, before the rest make more saves
than my dwarf and get out of reach.

So. Running towards the closest enemy, the attacking if Grakram gets
that far. Don't have my hopes up (Ref saves are truly abysmal) but who
knows?

ooc:

The mechanics were taking into account but were 'blended in' the story.
Remember that I may write two attacks that do little damage each as one
parry and one attack that is devastating.

[Jussi]

far. Don't have my hopes up (Ref saves are truly abysmal) but who knows?

[Fabian] Yeah, but if you fail you get a strength check to move at half your
speed so all is not lost.

Something to be aware of is that Brew can dismiss the spell at any time but
he may be very shaken by the fact that astirax found him again.

Game on!

[Greta/new]

Greta saw Ganwin go down, blood pouring from numerous
wounds. But there were no tears, no sadness; only cold
blackness. But there was also a spark of anger that
quickly grew into a fire as Greta watched the worgs
break and flee. With a howl of rage Greta dropped her
spear and drew her bow. They would pay, they would not
be allowed to escape until more had fallen.

Greta nocked an arrow and aimed at one of the worgs,
which was struggling to escape from the clutches of
Brew's grasping plants. Urokk was enthralled in the
battle and was moving to take down one of the worgs.
Not wanting to hit her ally, Greta aimed for one of
the others. She let the arrow fly.

(Greta drops her spear, draws her bow and fires a
normal arrow at one of the worg's that Urokk is NOT
attacking.)

(Hit)
The worg whined as the arrow bit into his flank.

(Miss)
The arrow flew wide and was lost amongst the rocks.

After she had loosed the arrow Greta noticed something
beyond the plants; the goblin that had tried to escape
was still in sight. Greta's face contorted in
confusion, why was it still there? It should have
been gone by now. Then Greta noticed a small
humanoid; a halfling she realized. What was a
halfling doing out here? Alone?! Confusion flooded
into the Void, dousing her rage and also breaking its
grasp on her. The pain from her wounds raced through
her body like fire. Unable to hold back, Greta
groaned in pain and placed a hand on one of her wounds
in a vain attempt to staunch the flow of blood.

[Brew/new]

Brew peeked out from his hiding spot and saw the
battle had finally turned towards their side. The
goblins were dead, and the night wolf was dead! And
the worgs were fleeing. Then Brew saw it; the malign
spirit that had been inside the night wolf. It was
fleeing, flying away back from where it had come.
Brew felt his legs go weak and the world started to
spin around him. He leaned against the rock wall for
support as his breath came in faster and shorter
breaths. It had escaped, it would warn its master.
They would find him! He fear gnawed at him and panic
filled his mind.

"I had no choice," he whispered to himself, trying to
calm himself.

"I had no choice," he called out. What choice did he
have? If he had done nothing at all...would they have
survived? He had to believe. But now, they needed to
move, fast. They needed to get away from here. But
where?

[Kruack/old]

As kruack tended to the rogues wounds he glanced
around looking for brew...Knowing time was short the
wildlander called out BREW....Quickly..We need to act
fast..

[Brew/new]

Lost in his thoughts Brew almost didn't hear the
wildlander call out. Shaking his head, trying to
clear his mind, Brew looked at the wildlander and then
he saw; Ganwin was down and looked to be near death.

Wasn't good enough, Brew thought bitterly. He had
tried but it hadn't saved Ganwin. But Ganwin needed
what aid he could provide right now.

Brew stumbled over towards Ganwin, his legs still
shaky. He kneeled down by the unconscious Sarcosan; he
was fading fast. Shaking his head, Brew started
chanting softly. He reached out and touched Ganwin's
side and stopped the river of blood that was pouring
from the wound there.

(Brew casts Cure Light Wounds on Ganwin)

"Doesn't matter now, really. It knows I'm here," Brew
muttered to himself as he dug his flask out. He took
a stiff drink and then checked on Ganwin's wounds.

Kruack/New

Seeing the old man approach him, the wildlander looked up from ganwin...I
know its risky but just enough to be able to move him..So we can get out of
here..he said

Brew/Old

> "Doesn't matter now, really. It knows I'm here," Brew muttered to himself

Kruack/New

Hearing brew saying something but unable to completely make it out..Kruack
looks towards the old man what do you make of that thing that came from the
wolf when it died?

The wildlander stood up and looked towards the weeds and vines and then
turned back and looked up the mountain, seems we have a choice here but we
need to make a choice and we need to make it now.

Do we go back into the mountains? try to figure out this door? Or do we head
into harms way and face this thing again?

Brew..The wildlander exclaimed.. Can you stop those weed things?? We need to
regroup and assit if we can the halfling..

((OOC: Cita is coming into the mountains and we were trying to leave them,
So we actually need to travel the same way as the "thing" went))

[Brew - Old]

"Doesn't matter now, really. It knows I'm here," Brew muttered to
himself as he dug his flask out. He took a stiff drink and then checked
on Ganwin's wounds.

[Ganwin - New]

Ganwin heard Brew's muttering as the freezing cold of the shadow world
receded and for a moment could not determine that the words were not his
own. As warmth began to flood back into the rogue's skin, his mind
wandered to so many of the other times he had felt that cold touch.
Perhaps stepping through the shadow world and feeling its cold bite had
changed him somehow; removed some of the healthy fear of battle and
death that had kept him alive so long. He would need to take some time
to think about that. But that would come later, because now, the battle
was still joined.
The Sarcosan opened his eyes slyly and glanced around. This old man and
his strange chants were more useful than he'd ever imagined they would
be. "Thanks Brew" he croaked out, his voice not quite steady, "Thanks
again". Ganwin began assessing his remaining wounds, trying to determine
how well he would be able to move. This skirmish seemed to be over for
now, but there would be more. There were always more.

[DM – Old]

The goblin pulled hard on the worg's reins and headed back down the
trail where it'd come from. Cita sighed, glad the tense moment was
over but not happy with the way it turned out. Charl purred and Cita
recognized that the cat had been afraid. She scratched the cat behind
the ears, "Yes, it could have been much worse." As if echoing her
sentiment, Cita now saw that three worgs were coming her way; they
would reach her in a few seconds.

[Cita – New]

A flash of irritation at the failed spell spurred Cita on. She
couldn't let this goblin leave under any circumstances. The three
worgs bearing down on her were somewhat worrying but she decided that
they were scared enough of their pursuers not to attack her if she got
out of the way of their escape.

Cita stepped to one side of the path. Charl had already retreated
back behind the rock and was hissing at the approaching worgs. Taking
a deep breath she began muttering under her breath and cast a spell at
the retreating goblin [cast sleep].

[Hit]

As the sleep spell descended on the goblin he slumped in his saddle
first and then, as if in slow motion, swayed to one side and slowly
slid out of the saddle, hitting the ground with a thud. His worg,
unsure of what to do, stopped in its tracks and turned to sniff the
fallen goblin.

[Miss]

For the second time that day Cita's efforts were in vain and the
goblin and worg continued to move away from her. Cita exclaimed in
frustration and stamped her tiny foot.

Hey,

Good posts!

I have enough info to wrap things up so please post no longer (I'd never
thought I would ever write that :)). There is plenty of roleplaying left to
do but we may have some 'timing issues' if we're no careful. I won't advance
the story in any significant way but just resolve some of the proposed
actions. I'll try to recap tonight but no promises; if it's not tonight,
I'll get to it tomorrow for sure.

Game on!

Fabian
