Ok, I've updated the website (nothing like working with enthusiasm).

I'm going to be reading characters and story in the next couple of weeks. There's quite a
bit of reading so I wouldn't wait for the last minute if I were you. The game will be so
much better if everyone remembers their character's (and NPC's) past actions and
motivations.

Fabian

I have just been re-reading some of the turn recaps and its all coming back.  I'm getting that familiar tinge of excitement too.  I had been contemplating buying this adventure to run myself, thinking we would never get this up and running again.  I'm glad I didn't now.

Just a quick question Fabian.  We had posted about the cave, the circle and the pictures that were drawn on the wall depicting a dwarf nursery rhyme.  Are you going to write that up as a semi-turn recap and go from there?

Just wondering

Hi Tacet,

I do have all the posts saved on my harddrive so the normal course of action would be for
me to recap what's there and start again. To be honest with you, I don't remember whether
I have everything I need or if there was still some player input outstanding. That being
said, we have to wait and see if we incorporate any new characters into the story. If
that's the case, then we may have to alter the plans to make as smooth a transition as
possible.

Of the two players I have approached, I got one definate 'no, thanks' and one likely 'no,
thanks'. We still haven't heard from Raziel (Ganwin). Do you think your friend will be
interested?

Fabian,

I have just recently started DMing a midnight a game on a website known as myth-weavers.  It is a first level game and an adaption of the adventure in the back of the book.  Some of the players might be interested but only one has experience with the tagging and turn recap style game, and plays it very well.  This is the guy that I thought might be interested.  I sent him your email address with a link to the site.  I hope he is, interested that is, because he is a great player.  If he is not, there are one or two others that I could ask, but he is the pick of the bunch.

Hey! I exist!
I haven't been checking this email very often anymore.
I'm in for PBEM, please update my email address to lex...@cox.net
I'll add the group to my whitelist.

Raziel (Ganwin)
Ps: Can I get a copy of all the info you've got? I think the stuff I had went boom with my old computer.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the game,
too. The gaming group I play with right now are all
strongly anti-3rd edition so unless I want to reverse
engineer Midnight for 2nd edition D&D, I don't really
have anyway to get to play it.

And yeah, we left off we were in a hidden cave near
the edge of the mountains that was supposed to lead to
a dwarven refuge. Getting to the wide open plains is
going to be fun...

Well, it looks like we have the full crew back.

We can start reading back turns and familiarize ourselves with the story for a couple of
weeks

That being said, if anyone wants to write some more backstory for their characters, that
would be great!

Fabian,

I am glad to see everyone is all here.  The guy I suggested actually said he had played with you before (its a small world: his gaming name is Jabberwock) but cannot take on any more games at the moment.

Hi Thomas,

To be honest I don't remember him; it doesn't sound like he played while I was DMing but
rather that we were fellow players. In any case, if there are no other players then we'll
pick right up where we left off. Keep your eyes and ears open in case someone wants to
join.

This is what he sent me:

I played my first (and only) Alternity game with Fabian back in '99 or '00. It only went a few turns before dying, but it was an interesting experience.

Thta's what I thought. I have played in a few PBEMs but I usually remember those players
that were part of games I DMed.

In any case, how's everyone doing with their turn reading. Does it make sense to have a
'group read' and open it up for comments. You know... somehting like reading a certain
number of turns by a certain date and then talk about it. I just don't want the enthusiasm
to go away.

Thoughts?

I remember the game quite well.  I have been reading through the chapters in reverse.  What I have learned from this is not what I had forgotten about the story but what I had forgotten about the other characters.

Of course I remember Grackram, who wouldn't, but I have come to realise how well Greta has been developed which I was probably not so aware of previously as I was absorbed in my own character.

I'm caught up on the story. Also wanted to say that I
wanted to play a Painless PC from the moment I saw the
Heroic Path. I've enjoyed playing Greta and am
looking forward to being able to do some more with her
character.

I also liked the painless heroic path, but it was a toss up between that and Iron born.  In the end Iron born won out because without the dworg would have commited suicide a long time ago.  Giantblooded would have suited him too but I missed that one when I was making his character.

Hey everyone,

I'm still here and working on restarting the game back up. We have a couple of issues to take care of before starting in earnest.

- Tom, (Brew) is very busy at this time and won't be starting out with us. He (and I) hopes that his workload will stabilize within a few weeks so he can join the game again. We'll NPC (either me or one of you) his character for the time being. I can give his stats to anyone that wants to NPC him on a regular basis so please let me know. Everyone else is still in for the game, right?; and
- Nicki will be joining us as a PC (she'll be playing a sea elf) so we'll have to work her into the game.

Once I get more info from Nicki, I'll write up the scene where we all meet and then we'll take it from there. I'm hoping this happens by the end of this week.

Please welcome Nicki into the group.

I would be willing to help out and NPC Brew until Tom
is able to get back into the game.

And welcome to the game Nicki. My character is Greta.
Looking forward to gaming with this group again.

Just getting into the hang of things!

I am not sure what you have planned but if Nicki is taking a while to get her character sheet in, would it not be appropriate to play out the turn we were still halfway through before she joined?

Just an idea.

Cheers

I think I can tie things up where I'll wrap up the turn we were currently in and also introduce Nicki's character. It should happen no later than this weekend.

No problem, and you can send me his sheet whenever you
get the chance. This will give me something to do when
its slow at work. :)

Welcome to our new player! I'll be happy to announce I should have
more time to give this game than before; Fabian knows I have been
looking for a new job and I got it. It'll mean I need to move to the
capital, but it'll also mean an end to insane work times (No more 34-

Jussi,

Good to hear; I'm also really looking forward to this game.

I know you're always looking for prestige classes, etc. so you should check
out the Durgis Battlerager at
http://darknessfalls.leaderdesslok.com/prestige_durgis-battlerager.htm.

Everyone,

Please be aware that this site:
http://darknessfalls.leaderdesslok.com/index.htm has all the SDR stuff for
Midnight so it's a great resource for those of us that don't have all the
books.

I've attached a simple timeline of the campaign which I'm planning to poston
the website once it's finished. I was hoping that each of you can take a
look at it and add what you think are significant events of the campaign
thus far.

Game start back up tonight!

L8r,

Fabian
