to Homo Hotel Happy Hour
Helloies,
Last Thursday’s Summer Home-o Hotel Happy Hour was a blast and the
rain held out just long enough to give us a lovely evening. We’ll be
making some changes, such as adding another bar to alleviate the
lines and improve the flow. I’m going to try my hardest to negotiate a
more affordable drink price. I’m already looking forward to next
month’s Summer Home-o Hotel Happy Hour.
Now, back to your regularly-scheduled HHHH. For anyone wondering why
there is already another HHHH, there will be two a month over the
summer. One will be held at The Dupont Hotel every month and a second
will be at a different location. This month’s HHHH is returning to the
Renaissance M Street Hotel, another hotel that has really gotten it
right in the past year and half. We will have a large open space and
an outdoor patio! We will be located in the lounge area immediately to
the left of the lobby. The hotel will have four different bars set up:
a main bar serving all your options – liquor, beer, wine and the drink
special, a second bar with only the drink special, a third bar with
beer and wine only and the Illy Store adjacent to the lounge will be
closed off for our group and will be serving only beer and wine.
The Renaissance Hotel is also the host hotel for DC Black Pride. Come
to HHHH and help welcome the arrivals for the weekend’s events.
Drink prices are:
Cocktails and Wine: $7
Beer: $5
Drink Special, Raspberry Lemonade: $6 ($1 from each drink special will
support SMYAL)
This month’s LGBT group is SMYAL. From the SMYAL website:
The Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League (SMYAL) is the only
Washington, DC metro area service organization solely dedicated to
supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning
(LGBTQ) youth. Founded in 1984, SMYAL is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit
organization.
Our mission is to promote and support self-confident, healthy,
productive lives for LGBTQ youth as they journey from adolescence into
adulthood. To fulfill our mission, we concentrate our commitment and
energy on five focus areas: (1) Life Skills & Leadership Development,
(2) Counseling & Support, (3) Health & Wellness Education, (4) Safe
Social Activities, and (5) Community Outreach and Education.
One dollar from each drink special, the Raspberry Lemonade, will go to
support SYMAL. So please, drink A LOT of Raspberry Lemonades!
See everyone Thursday.
