Ok Cindy, this is your list. It is a great list, and you do a great job.

I feel that any issue of concern to parents, home-school parents, and education, should be encouraged to be discussed openly and without judgement. They are issues we have to face, and not discussing them just perpetuates lack of information, and the idea that just because we home-school, means we are in a safety bubble and protected from these issues, which just isn't true.

We cannot be with our children 24/7 as they grow into adults, we cannot put them in a geo-dome, and isolate them from the world. Isn't it better that  we as parents educate ourselves through discussion, so we and our children have the best chance possible to survive the wrongs of the world.

That is my opinion, but as always, this is your list, I will gladly discuss these issues in another place.

Those who would like to discuss these issues are welcome to join my email lists at:

Not as an instead of the HSC list, but just as an in addition to.

Subject: [HomeschoolerConnection] Homeschool loop

Hey all!
If there is more need to express views regarding Meth it might be better to take it off the loop that is meant as a platform to gather homeschool families.

There is no harm in off topic subjects, but if we need to explore and discuss them it could be done off the loop.

Also, community concerns (such as this) could reach a much larger audience via the opinions section in a public newspaper.

I'm all for public awareness of safety issues for our kids.
Thanks,
Cindy
