Explanation of test results:

 

Normal/Normal - These dogs do not carry the mutation, and will not pass on the mutation to their offspring.  These dogs would not be expected to experience unexpected adverse drug reactions to normal doses of ivermectin, loperamide (Imodium®), and some anticancer drugs.

 

Mutant/Mutant - These dogs carry the mutation and can not pass on a normal gene to their offspring.    These dogs would be expected to experience toxicity after normal doses of loperamide (Imodium®), some anticancer drugs, and high doses of ivermectin (greater than 50 micrograms per kilogram).

 

Mutant/Normal - These dogs carry the mutation and may pass on the mutant gene to their offspring.  These dogs

may experience toxicity after normal doses of loperamide (Imodium®), some anticancer drugs, and high doses of ivermectin (greater than 50 micrograms per kilogram).

Thanks Diane. Does this gene just come from the father or could it be passed
from Holly? I'm not sure how this works. I haven't tester Myka yet but there
may be no reason to.

From Both Parents. I had both Chloe and Ketchum done. I had two litters between them and it means that I won't have to do Jax or Lexie. I don't know if Bernadette did Holly. It is 70.00 a kit. You can order them from WSU on line, they send you the kits and you send your payment back with the check swabs.

One thing I forgot to mention. If Bernadette had Holly tested and she came back NORMAL/NORMAL then none of the other Holly puppies would have to be tested, because Ketchum is NORMAL/NORMAL. I think Tucker is NORMAL/NORMAL also. Just a thought. It may save some money for everyone.

I think you can go to this site: www.vetmed.wsu.edu/VCPL and click on the Test your Dog button on the page.  I submitted a request to test Dexter via this link.

Link on the site and you can order a kit on line. They send you really good directions along with 2 swabs. You just follow the directions and return the test swabs (cheeks) to them with payment. They send you the test results on line. I didn't need a vet. Did it myself and it was easy.

Since Diane has already done this, perhaps she could tell us how much it costs. 
 
I did submit a request online for Dex but don't know how long it will take to receive it.  I'll keep you posted.

For one dog it is $70.00. I did two and they were both Normal/Normal so I don't have to test their pups. I think the $60.00/per dog fee is for a group of 10 or more.
