AUSSIE OWNERS

Thought you might be interested in this article from the Oregonian this morning. This is not western American stock dog history as I understand it.

I think that the dog we now know of as the Australian shepherd has at least as much history in Oregon as the border collie. I think that we should write this columnist about our breed. Any comments?

I was thinking the same thing as I read the article; it is very one-sided. I miss Deb Wood.

Hi All,

I think we should get something going, too.

Who is Deb Wood? (I hope I am not making myself look dumb asking something about someone I SHOULD know!) I met a Judy Gearheart (I think that's how it is spelled) Saturday at the trial... She's connected with Mistretta Aussies. I bet SHE would know a lot about it. If we are going to do something, we'd better do it soon. When you have both Dems & Reps voting on something that isn't going to cost anything, and you know what they say about movies, kids and dogs... (bound to be a winner) We better speak up quick and LOUD!

Yes who the heck was Deb Wood? You know the best part of this is that we all might learn more about the history of the breed.

Deb Wood was the previous Pet Talk columnist. She was very dialed in to the pet and performance community in Portland area. I met her several times when she did articles on flyball, agility, and canine musical freestyle. She always seemed more even-handed in her articles, but maybe I am a little biased.
