Dear HiTS users.

I was wanting to know what the current status of the HiTS KNIME
extensions. Is the only site to obtain the nodes from http://code.google.com/p/hits/
? Are they compatible with KNIME 2.5.x ? Are the nodes potentially
going to released via the KNIME community contributions from KNIME?

Does anyone know anything about the HCDC KNIME nodes too?

Many thanks,
Mazzo

Dear Mazzo,

Thanks for your interest in HiTS.
I no longer work for the Trinity College Dublin, and it looks like they do not want to continue the development. Although as it is open source (with really permissive license) it is possible to continue the development.
Regarding the compatibility with KNIME 2.5.x: The non-experimental parts (like the CellHTS2, BiomaRt, heatmap, dendrogram related nodes, and the plate format converters) should be compatible with it, although the experimental imaging might be conflicting with the new developments also using the BioFormats library. I think that part should be abandoned.
The most annoying part might be the old R/BiomaRt/CellHTS2 support. You have to use the versions specified on the Dependencies wiki page.
The idea to move this to the KNIME community contributions infrastructure might be a good one. In that case it were easier to get noticed.
I have to admit I do not know much about the HCDC project. As I know this is their Google group, although I got no letters recently on it.
About the future... I have tried to update some of the parts to fit better with the HCS tools, but because of the lack of time (and smaller problems with KNIME 2.4.x), I stopped it. Although I plan to create a new company really soon (within the next 2 months), that might give support for HiTS, and develop the required nodes if there is enough interest from the users.
I hope this help clarify things.
Kind Regards, gabor
