Hello everyone!
We had a GREAT workday yesterday- so nice to see some of you!
We planted all of the seedlings that NYRP dropped off, built some trellises, and most importantly cleaned out the compost bins (thanks Chris and Noah!)
The compost will definitely need some fresh veggie scraps so if you are nearby please drop off your scraps into the LEFT bin. The left bin is new compost, the middle is for cooking compost, and the right is for finished compost. (I will post signs shortly)
I’m will also talk to NYRP to see if we can get a compost sifter built for the garden to use for sifting out big sticks and non compostable waste. If not, perhaps we can build one on our next meeting/workday. (Sunday June 27th, 1:00pm)
All active members must commit to 2 hours per week in the garden- if you haven’t already please let me know which day you are able to hold your open hours.
The SlowfoodNYC summer camp will be starting on July 6th. If you know of any youngsters ages 9-12 who’d like to participate, it’s free and will be wonderful and very educational! Please contact Sandra: san...@sandramclean.com.
Sandra- when you get a chance send the application and information to the group
so they can pass it on to their schools and families.
Have a wonderful week,
Rachael
