auditions for Christmas show 2011

Hawkeye Community Theatre is holding auditions for the annual
Christmas presentation, "JOY!", a rock musical, presented by special
arrangement with Dramatic Publishing, Woolstock, IL.

Auditions will be held at the theater on October 25th and 26th, 2011
from 5:00pm til 7:00pm.

There are 10 speaking parts, 4 female, 6 male and an additional 6 to 8
performers will be cast as chorus and extras. The story tells about a
group of high school kids gathered together to fulfill the tradition
of performing the nativity story. The only problem, no director, no
script, no set, just a trunk full of old costumes. One student has a
passing knowledge of the story from her Sunday school classes and the
rest of the students bring their own creativity to their characters.
From that beginning, they tell the story their way.

We are looking for young actors ready to sing and participate in the
creation of the show. We are not interested in only the most beautiful
voices; rather for those who can sing from the heart, develop the
choreography and really participate in the creation of the show.

If you think you can get into the JOY , come on down to the auditions
October 25th and 26th. The show will be cast and directed by Dave
Stokesbary.

"JOY!" will be performed on December 16, 17 and 18, 2011 at Hawkeye
Theater at 521 N. 12th Street.
