Tryouts will be held the 4th and 5th of January at 6:00PM at Hawkeye
Theatre, 521 N 12th St, Ft. Dodge, IA. The play is a dark comedy with
five (5) cast members in the mix of two (2) female and two (2) male
with one (1) role of interchangeable gender.
"Cahoots" is a comedy-thriller filled with witty dialogue and rapid
fire one-liners. Set in a well-appointed New York apartment, a small
dinner party turns into murderous mayhem. Ken and Jan are hosting
dinner for their friends Al and Lois before they all attend a block
association meeting on neighborhood crime – a subject which has become
an obsession with Al. In fact, just to show how vulnerable they all
are, Al, impersonating a masked burglar, breaks into the apartment via
the terrace. For this, and other offenses, there is a growing
antagonism between Al and Ken, and as dinner progresses so do the
insults - culminating in disaster when Ken fatally clobbers Al with an
oversized pepper mill. After Ken, Jan and Lois find themselves
involved in this most bizarre murder, their efforts to cover it up
provide a succession of hysterically funny scenes.
Jefff Bluml will cast and direct the show which is slated to open in
March 2010 as the Annual Dinner Theatre at Hawkeye Theatre.
