Hi all, thought you'd find this article interesting. Maybe with the First
Lady spreading the word on how great community gardens are, we may get
Harmony excited about it again. Click on the link above if you're
interested in reading it. Lisa Lewis

Thank you for this information Lisa. Sadly, long links don't hold up
well in email messages or in newsgroups. You might want to try
http://TinyURL.com . It really makes long links much easier to handle,
and it's free!

Here's the "tiny" version of the Michelle Obama link you posted:

It looks like the time is ripe for another community garden meeting.
We have a lot to talk about, I think, and a new sense of opportunity.

Cheers,
Kerul

Wow, Fabulous.  I like opportunity.  Last I heard we had lost hope because both parties didn't want to give up the plot.
Have my garden gloves ready!

Hi Group:

Brief update from here: As we've heard at CDD meetings that CDD land
may not be available for a garden, Harmony Development has been
exploring other garden sites and options that we hope will get this off
the ground.

Given the change in the economic climate since we first started these
discussions, the Development Co. is moving carefully through all of its
decisions, as you might expect, and therefore a little more slowly than
we'd all like. A part of this is finding a piece of land that can be
given a reliable commitment for a garden - not an easy task given the
number of moving parts involved. We're currently waiting for support
and a financial commitment on gardening matters from our partners.
Until then I'm not able to pass along a commitment as to when or what
will happen, if anything, but I remain optimistic that I'll be able to
share some ideas with you before long.

Greg,
You have mentioned in the past that the fence around the old school
was saved and would be available for fencing around the garden. Is
the fence indeed saved, and if so, will it be available for us to use?

It has been saved and is still in storage for when needed.

I'm about to get estimates for fencing the garden. What size gate do
we need? 6 feet? Do we need more than that one gate near the
street? If fence is very expensive, (and we know it will be) will it
be better to fence half the garden now, and the rest when the first
half fills up? I'll get estimates for both, so we can have an easier
time deciding.
