Query regarding the maintenance fund

Hi,
I am new to this group. This is regarding a clarification about the
maintenance fund. I have been keeping the maintenance fund for last
three months and I have kept it as a fixed deposit since they have
only mentioned that we need the money in our personal bank account.
(not mentioned about fixed or regular). My bank is ready to give the
account statement as well as the confirmation letter of fund
maintenance.
But when I spoke to one of my friend yesterday, he was telling that
they will not consider fixed deposit and the amount needs to be in my
regular savings account. Can anybody clarify on this?
