As the school year quickly comes to a close, OBUGS would like to thank
all the volunteers who made this year so successful. We were able to
serve over 700 participants in our programs, empowering children and
youth to learn, grow, and cook their way to a healthy future. Also, we'd
like to extend a big thank you to everyone who came out for OBUGS
Spring into the Garden Festival. Together we filled beds with summer
crops, made fresh salsa, and savored the spring sun.
You are cordially invited to OBUGS' Appreciation Celebration at the Paul and Inez Jones Garden (aka the Linden Street Garden)
When: Friday June 18, 2010 from 5-7pm

Be a Part of Building a New OBUGS Garden
West Oakland Middle School Garden. We will be constructing four raised bed
units during the week of June 8th through the 12th. Each day we will start at 11am and finish the construction on Friday. Saturday June 12th will be the final touch of putting the soil in the beds and spreading the wood chips. It will be a dirt party! Your help would be much appreciated. No building experience necessary. If you want to participate on any of the days let me know in advance if you can so I know how many to prepare for. However, if you want to come and check it out and help for a little while that is great. Any questions email or call

OBUGS Kids Need Summer Camp Superheroes!
This summer we'll be gardening, cooking, and adventuring our way around the bay and beyond. Would you like share the delights of a dip in Lake Anza, a stroll around Green Gulch Farm, or a boogie boarding day in Santa Cruz? Sign up to volunteer as a chaperon and become an OBUGS summer camp superhero.

10am-1pm in the garden
10am-3pm for field trips
Monday through Friday, June 21st-Aug. 1st
Choose a day and time that works for you. Volunteers can help anywhere from 1-5 days/week!
