Subject: Final Urban FIRE II for 2009
To: A Boku Kodama <bo...@urbanvoice.org>

Hello Friends,
The summer session of Urban FIRE II, the development of the Functional Business Plan begins on Saturday, July 11.
This is the intensive program that meets for four hours each Saturday from 9am to 1pm for six weeks. We cover all
the materials we normally cover in 12 weeks. The difference in this structure is that students are provide an hour of
class time to get each section of their business plan started in class. The other components of each class will include
business plan information and interactive group training.

This class is suited for those who own a startup up to three-years old and those who have graduated from Urban
FIRE I or similar entrepreneurship training programs. Expectations are that students will need to spend between 10-
14 hours each week outside of class to do research and build their business plan.

We'll also be discussing supplemental business concepts and hear guest speakers including Scott Cooney, who's
book, "Build a Small Green Business" and the launching of "Ecopreneurs" has garnered a national audience. This will
be his only Oakland appearance. Scott is considered one of the new leading voices for the Green Industry. He will be
speaking about the development of incubators and mentors for those going into the environmental industry.

This will be the final time Urban FIRE II  will be offered this year. Please let those who have been attempting to
write a business plan and meet the above criteria know we have a few opening still available.

The class meets at the Oakland Housing Authority, 935 Union Street on the corner of 10th Street in West Oakland.
Enrollment is through Oakland Adult and Career Education at 2455 Church St., in East Oakland across from the
Eastmont Mall. For further information, call 510.655.1304.

Thanks, Boku
