Subject: 8/22 Peoples Assembly Planning Meeting.... Challenges and New Opportunities

Share this meeting notice ! Please e-mail,hard mail and telephone all Peoples Assembly, your organization/union members and interested people!

Dear Peoples Assembly Participants and Supporters,

We all have been at it ! It's been a busy summer!  Fighting against Budget Cuts that take away resources from our schools, city and state services/programs and fighting for jobs & against lay offs!We made the local city goverments hear our call for a fair budget & NC State Legislators come up with about a Billion$$$$dollars in taxes rather than cut us to the bone ! We have still have more to do in the midst of the struggle for Healthcare Reform.

We are calling a "report in & planning meeting"  at 12 noon Sat. August 22nd
at the NC Public Service Workers Union-UE Local 150 Office at 211 West Martin Street in Raleigh. Call us at 1-888-44-UE150

Recently, we all have been engaged in the Healthcare Town Hall meetings to make our demands for Healthcare for All heard ! However, news media has been dominated by the right-wing "race and red or solicialist " baiting of the Obama's Administration's Public Option health care plan and those speaking out against Healthcare Reform. These rabid racist right-wingers have sought to close down any type of democratic discussion or  debate on why working people want Healthcare for All!

Last week, a timely report was released about the $5.2 million raised by NC members of Congress from donors connected to the health care and insurance industries. The report describes the leading recipients of this money and their votes on past bills, particularly related to the pharmaceutical industry. These right wing racist are also being organized and funded as well.
This Saturday at noon, we must convene a planning meeting of the Peoples Assembly organizers and Healthcare for All supporters to report on our work/activities, assess the present situation and develope a plan of action to engage even more of organizations'members and communities. We can not effectively take on the challenges ahead of us during the upcoming  weeks or months without us meeting together and working collectively to win advances on the rough road ahead.
See you there!

In Solidarity,

Nathanette Mayo and Angaza Sababu Laughinghouse for the Peoples Assembly Organizing Committee
