We had a fun meeting last Thursday. The students learned about
cryptography, and practiced encoding and decoding messages - sometimes
in foreign languages.

The next meeting will be held a week from Thursday. This will be at
7:00 at night at the Porter library, so those students who are
typically not able to attend directly after school will hopefully be
able to make it. We will be doing origami, along with completing more
of the Silver Level challenge problems. Here are a link to an site
discussing the mathematics of Origami, and some videos of Origami.

Finally, there will be a fun math/science event on the national mall
this weekend. The US Science and Engineering Expo will be there, and
has many hands-on activities. It should be quite fun.

Let me know if your student has any questions on the Silver Level
Challenge problems, or if your student is ready for more advanced
problems.
