Parents of Math Club Students:

We are pleased to announce our first meeting of the year. This
Thursday, September 23, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, we are having a game
night at the H. H. Poole lunch room. Bring your favorite math-related
game, or play one that is already there. It will be a bunch of fun.
We will also have further information on the math club curriculum,
meeting schedule, and upcoming math competitions.

Make sure your student picks up the "Silver Level Challenge"
worksheets. Each student who completes the 5 challenges will earn a
reward. Also, when 12 students have completed them the club achieves
Silver Level status, qualifying the entire club for prizes, and
allowing us to move up to the Gold level.

Treats are an important part of math club. This first meeting will be
a potluck - everyone bring a treat to share. Please let us know in
advance of any severe allergies. Here is a recommendation on what to
bring, based on the first letter of your last name:

A-G: Drinks
H-P: Cookies, Cupcakes, or brownies
Q-Z: Ice cream

As always, pi would be appreciated. ;)

Finally, math club is not going to function well without parent
support. Usually, it will only be a once-a-month type of commitment.
We need parents for the following tasks:

Treat Coordinator
Assistant Coaches
Carpool Coordinator
T-Shirt Coordinator
Party Coordinator
Coordinator of everything else.

If every parent does something, even though it is small, the club will
be a great experience for the students.

Sincerely,

Matt Leigh
