hello from bangkok

sooo... finally a sign of life from me. after a stressful period of
travel preparation (i'm so badly organised!), we finally arrived on
monday here in bangkok! our first stop of our one-year
world-around-tour.
the travel was good, but long. but cant complain. i even kind of
enjoyed the long-haul flight, only had time to watch one single film
and enjoyed the view out of the window. incredible to imagine that we
crossed half the globe to arrive here... and to realised what is below
you which is so far away on a map.
i still didnt realise that i'm here. but taht doesnt mean that i dont
enjoy it! :)
after arrival here in bangkok, we found a nice, cheap guesthouse (very
close to kao san road for those who know BKK).. although it was
pouring down with rain... what a welcome :)
now we are jsut enjoying, having holiday, eating a lot (the food is
great! and fortunately neither of us had problems until now with
anyting), learning to discuss for the price - which works well, get
rid of (sometimes) annoying tuktuk-drivers, visiting old temples,
enjoying the good weather, and to get rid of the jet lag, ... well,
anyway... i wont write more now as we really need to get some food.
cant make it wait... it"s too good.
and it's already after 8pm here. so: time to eat.
we plan to do a blog.. but didnt manage to do so yet. it's just not
very tempting to sit in an internetcafe and i hope you understand
that. i'd like to write more and tell you my first impressions... but
this has to wait till next time. and it might just repeat with our
blog afterwards.
but as you can imagine: i'll always be happy to have news from you!

Happy to hear that everything is ok and you enjoy your time over
there... We keep waiting from your news and also your blog:) Have fun
and enjoy! Here the weather is cold and raining frequenty so nothing
changed :)

I knew you were going to make a rather long travel but not a whole
year! I am planning a 3months "RTW" in 2009 so I am absolutely eager
to learn from your experiences. As soon the blog is created I'll be
reading it from A to Z.

How long are you planning to stay in Bangkok?
I went there once 7 yeras ago around this time of the year as well.
I liked the food a lot, though it was extremely spicy sometimes.
I still remember this felling of entering a very hot sauna every time
I left the air-conditionned hotel.
I did not stay long there, the only think I could do was a temple
toure.
