Hello translators,

Here is a question from translator Michał Parkoła:

> Do you recommend we translate the pictures or not?

Thanks!
Michał

Hi everybody,
I'm the Turkish Translator of the HCW. Sorry about late reply.
To my mind, it is better not to translate the pictures, since they include some global theory, rules and information.
Cheers

Hi guys,

My name is Leopoldo and I am currently working on translating “How to change the world” into Spanish.

It is great to have this Group to discuss these kinds of topics.

Regarding this particular question, I have a different opinion:

Taking into account the particular idiosyncrasy of spanish speaking cultures, graphics like the Adoption curve will not be of much use if it's not translated for someone who is not familiar with the English language. I think someone buying the Spanish version would expect to find Spanish texts (even when they might keep references to the original English terms)

Some other examples: It is very common in Spanish books to find references to Deming's PDCA cycle translated to Spanish.  I think it will sound much more familiar for Spanish readers to find it that way.

Another example: the five I's. Translated into Spanish they still keep the leading "I", so 5 I´s mnemonic remains the same (and it’d be easier to remember in Spanish that in a foreign language)

However, as I mentioned before, I think it is very valuable to keep the original English reference.

Hi all.
Going to complete Russian Transation soon.

Can any one (may be Jurgen yourself) point me to the font used for the pictures?
Would like to try pictures translation but i have to found Cyrilic font similar to the one used by Jurgen originally. Maybe the name of fonts or some links can help.

Thanks in advance,
Vova.

I draw them myself by hand. There is no font for that. :)

Cheers,
Jurgen

I've translated them into portuguese using another font.

It is not so original as Jurgen's drawings, but I could get the work done!

I can send you the files for editing if you want.

Oh, cool!
I couldn't even imagine that :)
Jurgen, what device/soft do U use for drawing?
Getting inspired by your outcomes I'm thinking about staring my own blog as a starting point for my independent consulting/agile coaching practice.

Sincerely yours,
Vladimir Livshits

Yes, Ande, please send the picture sources to me.
Hope your sources will help me and I can reuse some parts.
What font did you use?
Thanks!

Jurgen,
That's so cool so I can't even believe on it :) cause the pics look some digitized. How do you get such effect for them? may be some tool for coloring...

They look really well that's why I'm so assertive trying to disclose your professional secrets ;)

Sincerely yours,
Vladimir Livshits

Thanks!
It's just the coloring that I do on the computer. With Paint.Net, a free program.
But for drawing (in black & white) I have a lot of pencils, pens, markers, etc.

Cheers,
Jurgen
