A forest pathologist contact with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station has requested the assistance of the CT birding community in locating the presence of Beech Leaf Disease (BLD) in the following
counties: Litchfield, Hartford, Tolland, Windham. Unfortunately this disease is already widespread in our four southern counties, so please limit reports to the four northern counties only as mentioned above.
Reports should be submitted to Dr. Robert Marra via email,
Robert...@ct.gov. BLD is rapidly expanding and is fatal over successive years of infection.
