Hi Everyone - Saturday morning we will be meeting at 8am to bird and walk the trails and road at Greenstone Hollow. I just returned from 3 hours this morning and had 27 species - I hope we can do as well or better with more sets of eyes and some really good birders along!
Please be sure to bring your masks and plan to wear them when it is not possible to socially distance. If you have not been able to get vaccinated please plan to wear your mask at all times.
You should also plan to wear good walking shoes which are water resistant. We won’t have to walk through any standing water, but there are some muddy spots and the grass will probably be wet.
This is an easy walk and for the first hour we won’t be far from the cars, so you can come late and join us or leave early if you need to.
The fall colors are lovely and part of the purpose of this walk is to introduce those of you who’ve never been to Greenstone to the trails there. Thanks to Doug Beach who helps me mow, they’re in very good shape!
I’ve attached a link to the Google Map showing the location of Greenstone Hollow.
From the intersection of Rt. 20 and Rt. 187 at East Granby center, drive north on Rt. 187 for 1.8 miles. Turn left on Ridge Blvd. You’ll see the entrance to Greenstone a short ways in. Please park on the north (right) side of the road.
If you need to call for directions or questions, you can reach Chris at his cell -
860-967-5976. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
