The totals.
In 60 hours between Aug 18 and 22nd the hard working and well loving
volunteers of H2Olympia counted
2.383 visits to the well
898 cars trips to the well
1,262 completed surveys.
If you have recently joined this group, welcome. I invite you to come
to the next H2Olympia's next public meeting will be this Friday
beginning as 6:30pm in the MIXX 96 conference room which is in
downtown Olympia 119 Washington Street between State and 4th Ave.
Parking is free.
On the agenda that night will be
1. A review of the preliminary survey results.
2. A conversation about the survey and how we turn that raw data into
a report and policy.
3. Staffing upcoming events: Table for Olympia & the ODA Downtown
clean up.
4. Petty cash reimbursements.
5. Some kind of Partaaaaay!
A huge thank you to to each and every one of you who put your time and
effort into this critical effort. I for one can say I learned so much
about my city, my county, and my country in the 10 hours I spent
simply hanging out at the well. I was struck by the many purposes the
well serves and at the same time how unified the love, honor and
respect a humble brass pipe in the middle of an acre of asphalt
inspires.
In closing I have to share a synchronicity that blew me away. In a
single hour of my Saturday night shift I heard three people compare
our Artesian well to African watering holes. Each spoke of how at an
oasis all the creatures set aside their animosities long enough for
all to partake of live sustaining water. The Lamb literally lies down
with the Lion; the Wildebeest with the Cheetah.
Our Artesian well is a humble force binds us all together in subtle
and beautiful ways that need not be articulated, only acknowledged.
See y'all Friday.
