March 24-2008:
The Current Socio-Political & National climate In Guyana!
WORD-UP:
The current political and social climate in Guyana today, is very
GRAVE. I had a discussion with a fellow Guyanese today on that
situation.
Here is her TAKE on the problem.
* This Guyanese woman is based here in NYC, and works in my building
as a Cluster Care Worker.
* She has a son and a brother residing in Georgetown-Guyana currently.
* She says that only recently some drive by bandit, shot someone in
the neck in Charlestown-Georgetown.
* Another bandit called a funeral home to ask them to prepare 60
(sixty coffins), because they can expect that number of dead clients
shortly.
* Oliver Hinckson, (former Sandhurst graduate, GDF Officer, and
alleged terrorist) is serving time in prison for alleged terrorist
activities, and firearms in his possession.
These are just some of the graven images coming out of Guyana
currently.
CONCLUSION:
I cannot recall in my years living in Guyana, where there was such a
dreaded social situation, that people feared for their lives so
desperately.
I don't know who to blame for this current trend. But I am told that
the Police Force cannot, or will not get a grip on this situation
anytime soon.
Only recently the US government warned it's citizens not to travel to
Guyana until further notice. Because of the insecurity for their lives
therein!
