Greetings,

We are looking forward to tonight's NO CO2POLLUTION Twitter Town Hall!!

We are using these last few hours of acceptance of comments on the EPA Carbon Pollution Standards to encourage more people, particularly youth of color to tell the EPA to enforce the Carbon Pollution Standards and to continue their engagement in supporting regulations for clean air beyond today.

We will also hear from those returning from the Rio +20 Earth Summit about how all of this connects to a global movement to reduce pollution and cut climate change-causing emissions!

Please see the below and attached documents to get an explanation of how the town hall will work.

Below are the questions we will be asking the Twitter Town Hall Speakers to answer:

1.     Given your involvement in the Environmental & Climate Justice Movement...What's the significance of air pollution in communities of color?
2.     What are the things you (your organization) are doing about it?
3.     We're in the last hours before the deadline of public comments to be sent to the EPA regarding carbon pollution...What else, besides the comments should we be doing?
4.     Where do we, especially the followers of this conversation and members of the Environmental & Climate Justice Movement--go from here?

If you have any questions, please email Deborah McKinney, NAACP ECJ State Coordinator for Virginia at: dbmck...@gmail.com  or 202-487-3953.

We are looking forward to connecting with you all tonight!

CARBON COUNTDOWN!
June 25, 2012, 7p-8p EST

We gather in the last hours before the EPA stops taking public comments regarding Carbon Pollution Standards.  A variety of youth leaders of color who are active in the larger Environmental and Climate Justice Movement will discuss the significance of air pollution and communities of color. Two of the speakers will just be returning from the Rio+20 Earth Summit and ready to share some of their experiences as well.
Instructions for Participants:
1) This entire townhall will take place on Twitter. You will need to have a Twitter account to read and reply to posts.  Go to www.twitter.com to create an account.
2) We will be using the @NAACP account
3) Use the hashtag: #NoCO2 to find and follow the conversation.
PLEASE ALWAYS USE THE FOLLOWING HASTAG IN ALL YOUR TWEETS:  #NoCO2
4) There will be a NAACP moderator who will “manage” the  questions so that everyone can see questions and responses.
5) When you reply to someone do not reply directly to that person. Instead, use “@reply” or just type your reply with the #NoCO2 and then everyone can see your post.
6) If you already have questions you want to submit before the townhall starts, please either send them through Twitter with #NoCO2 in post or e-mail them to dmck...@naacpnet.org
